As September progresses, we're thrilled to celebrate a significant milestone–YUCCA's 5th birthday! It's been an incredible journey, and while we have so much to be proud of, the urgency of New Mexico's climate crisis demands our immediate attention.
Over the past five years, we've seen:
Oil and Gas Production Surge: New Mexico's oil and gas production has surged to unprecedented highs in 2022 and 2023. New Mexico has the most rapidly growing extraction in the country right now bringing with it severe environmental consequences.
Catastrophic Climate Disasters: Our state has endured some of the worst climate-driven disasters in its history, including devastating wildfires and intense flooding. The impacts on our communities and ecosystems are more profound than ever.
Greenwashing Galore: We’re witnessing a rise in misleading “climate champions” promoting false solutions like hydrogen and nuclear energy. These distractions only serve to undermine genuine progress towards effective climate action.
The need for urgent action has never been clearer. The stakes are incredibly high, and we must act now to half destructive extraction practices and pave the way for a sustainable future.

Host a House Party: We're asking you to bring together your friends and family the week of September 20th (the Global Climate Strike) to host house parties in support of the People's Climate Campaign. It's a fantastic opportunity to discuss climate action, raise awareness, and build stronger connections with the people you love.
Join Us for a Special Action and Birthday Celebration: On September 20th, join us for a powerful action and a special birthday party to mark our 5 years of dedication and progress. It's a chance to celebrate our successes, strategize for the future, and strengthen our collective resistance.
